Welcome Messages from the Minister Provincial and the Minister General,

From the Minister Provincial

Welcome to this website.

It is for those wanting to know more about St. Francis and about the Third Order, Society of Saint Francis in Anglican Church in Aotearoa - New Zealand, and Melanesia.

If you are interested in knowing more, or joining one of our groups, then please email either the webmaster or the contact. There is also information about how to become an enquirer on this site.

Being Franciscan does not mean that we are any better than anyone else. Many of us struggle to live out our Rule of Life. Francis himself was not interested in the holy and devout and wise. He was simply interested in seeking to follow God, as one of God's poor little one's. The important thing is to try to follow in Francis's footsteps.

The way of Francis offers an alternative to the individualitic be rich theology and emphasis which is so strong today. Franciscan Spirituality is about being overawed by the love of God. It is for all those seeking to deepen their life in God.

I hope you find our offering useful, and the way of Francis a way for you

Pax et bonum

John Hebenton

    Minister Provincial

From the Minister General,

Welcome to all who visit our website.

Our Province includes all of Aotearoa, New Zealand, and also the Church of the Province of Melanesia.

In New Zealand our 8 areas meet in the way that suits their members. Some members are far-flung and some live quite close to one another.

We are all challenged to live out the example of St Francis in all that we do.

We continue to be called to follow Christ within our community by loving our God and loving our neighbour.

Chasing after Francis who was chasing after Jesus.

As Third order we are called upon to 'catch up' with this spirit of service - the servant spirit, the Christly spirit, the Franciscan spirit in his long and short prayer "My God and my all."

In company with St Francis and with St Clare we are called to praise and worship God and serve all who we meet; the wealthy and the needy, the oppressed and the oppressor, the powerful and the powerless, the unforgiving and the unforgiven, the racist and the atheist - all of God's creation.

For further information please contact anyone listed.

Dorothy Brooker

          Minister General.
